A multi-author comic series, commonly referred to as an MAS is a comic series in which a large group of authors collaborate, making comics in a set rotating order. Typically, when one author creates a bit of the storyline, the next author in order follows that idea and expands on it, to the point in which, to quote the topic for Heroes, "the plot becomes twisted and crazy" This is not to be confused with comic series which have multiple co-authors.
Such series are often referred to as "Klinkerpoop series", after Project Klinkerpoop, the first series of this variety.
